Computer Manga

Hi!
Today I couldn't decide between doing a post on microsoft paint or manga so I'm going to do both.

Lately I've been drawing manga and giving (selling) it to my friends. I thought it would be cool to post something on that. But I also want to post about paint on computers so here is my computer manga person.

Trust me, it's a lot less pointy drawn regular.
Belive it or not I made this picture with the paint feature on any computer.
This one I did with a pencil and paper.

This isn't one of my best, but it's a picture.
Bye!
sincerly,
S

P.S. Click here if you want to learn how to draw manga. Video is by Mark Crilly.

Peas in a Pod

Today i was playing with some corriedale roving. I am trying to figure out how to accomplish some of the amazing felting that I have seen whilst roaming the internet. These peas are a combination of needle felting and then wet felting. The pod is about 6 inches long. I love them.  I believe I  will gift them to a little neice of mine, perhaps along with a few other veggies that have yet to be dreamed into existence.
I think it is time to search for some books on different felting techniques to help speed along my learning proocess. Today I will go to the library and see if they can find me Uniquely Felt by Christine White.   I noticed it at a suppliers website and it looks pretty good.
Well,  laundry is calling and then it seems we are going to have a day warm enough to venture outdoors without the fear of freezing off a facial feature... have a great day!

little felted forest fairy bags

This week I tried my hand at wet felting a few items. I tried ascarf out of alpaca....that I'm not entirely happy with. I had to do it twice cause first time I did not use enough layers of wool. I learned that alpaca is finer than sheeps wool and therefore more layers are required for it to be thick enough.
So then i tried some lovely foresty coloured sheep rovings. I was intending to make a scarf. The shrinkage was more than I bargained for so I ended up making two small bags.....one is a good size for an iphone and the other a little smaller. I am happy how they turned out.

There were a couple of thin spots so I featured them with some stitching.

I can't wait to try some more...I have a million ideas swimming around in my head.
Have a happy day.

Cupcakes!

Hi. For my little brothers Valentine's party me, my mom, and my little brother made these awesome cupcakes!

This one's mine.

It's also my favorite. These are just the ones that we got to keep for ourselves, the ones for my brothers class are in a box, ready to be driven to school.
P.S sorry that this post took so long, I ment to post it right after Valentine's day.

under the weather

I am a little under the weather today....which is a shame as it has warmed up immensly.  The forecast is -2C for today which is relatively balmy for the Canadian prairie in February.
Even though I feel horrid I managed to take a stab at needle felting a 3D item today. I only suffered one minor puncture wound. Not a child friendly craft idea. A slow well place needle turned out to be the way for me. Once again, as with hand stitching, I need to master patience.

It is very cute....
I will have to give this another go.
Shasta has been busy with school and choir practice.....they are performing with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra soon.....so I am posting out of turn.
Now to get some rest.

My turn....

Shasta and I have decided to take turns posting.  Much to my surprise I was actually looking forward to this post. We had a great weekend visiting with family and I was able to....invited even... to rummage through not one, but two of my sister in laws fabric scrap bins. What fun....  I also bought some wool yarn and alpaca rovings. I could just sit and admire these treasures all day.

I did wet felt a small square of the alpaca just to see how it would turn out...the colours are gorgeous. Now what to do with it........

Hmmmm......

For now I will work on the applique dragon as she has been waiting too long to find her place in the world...and she would like to beable to see......
Originally she was going to embellish my sons denim jacket....but alas I am in love with her and do not want to commit her to a piece of clothing that will be quickly outgrown.

Felted Rocks

Hi! I'm Shasta. The other day me, my mom, and my little brother made some felted wool rocks. They look really cool.
They're pretty easy to make, too. Click here to find out how to make them.

We did ours by hand but you can also do them in a washing machine. Click here to find out how.

I'm also working on some sewing projects

On the right is a small purse I'm working on. It's base is an old pocket that I embroidered on, then I sewed some purple fabric on in some places.
On the left is a purse I'm making for my best friend. So far it's not much, just a brown bag with a hand sewn on the middle and blanket stitch around the edges. It's made from upcycled wool.
